Registering = stressful

I'm trying to enjoy each and every part of planning our wedding. So far, things have been really exciting and fun and pretty much stress-free. And then came registering...

This sounded like so much fun to me! I thought: "what could be more fun than zapping everything in the store we want for our house?!" WOW...I didn't realize I had to pick out the colors for every room of the house all at once, before I even move in! I didn't realize that picking out dishes and silverware could take SO much thought! I didn't realize things as simple as salt and pepper shakers could be difficult! Who knew the color of towels could send me into a mild panic attack?!

As I began to realize how much registering stresses me out, I also became very aware of how thankful I am to have Chad. He's actually quite helpful in picking things out/giving his opinion. However, he makes me laugh when he tries to read my expressions and then attempts to pick the item he thinks I'm leaning towards...just to make me happy. Chad often reminds me that I don't have to get it all done in one day, and that I can always add and remove things in the upcoming months. No, we aren't perfect, and we've had our share of disagreements (aka: arguments) right in the middle of the store! Thankfully, I think we have put in our long hours at Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and now it's just a matter of adding things as we think of them. So next time I hear someone talk about how excited they are to register for their wedding, I'll just smile and say "Have fun!" and not mention all the stress that comes with it...they can figure that out on their own!

***I started reading a book that was given to us as a gift from our friends Derk and Bethany. It's called "Sacred Marriage" by Gary Thomas. Although I'm only a few chapters in, I have loved every part of it.
"We need to remind ourselves of the ridiculousness of looking for something from other humans that only God can provide." Gary goes on to say, that many times, dissatisfaction in marriages comes from expecting too much from each other... when really, God is the only one that can give us what our hearts truly desire.

I'm back at it!!

Ok, so I admit, I kind of gave up on blogging because I felt silly blogging to no one. HOWEVER...I've recently heard that a few people are looking...and was told I need to update! So...I will try my best to keep updating (although sometimes school gets in the way...grrr)!

Wedding plans are going great! We have pretty much all of the big things out of the way, and after the first of the year, the work begins! It is nice right now, not having to stress about wedding plans on top of all the holiday hustle and bustle. We are registering in January and I can't wait! I know that Chad is getting very sick of me constantly saying "Ooo...we should register for that!!". If you have any advice on things to register for, (or things that are completely useless that you registered for and never used) please feel free to share them with us!

Chad and I have been having a lot of fun together this season. It's crazy for us to think back to this time last year...we weren't dating and we barely knew each other! We are experiencing things for the first time...like trying to coordinate Christmas with all of our families! Thinking back to a year ago makes us realize how unbelievably happy we are to be together! We can't imagine life without each other and it hasn't even been a year!

We went to an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" party last weekend! Our sweaters were not then ugliest, but the shoulder pads and nasty red tie made it all work together quite wonderfully. So much fun! For next year, we will make sure to hit Goodwill early on, so that the really good ugly ones are still available!

We went on a day-trip to Chicago today just for fun. We did a little shopping and got some delicious deep dish pizza at Gino's East. We love to spend a whole day together...just the two of us!

Engagement Pictures!

My Matron of Honor/friend/future sister in law suggested a photographer to me at the start of our planning. I decided to go with her mainly based on her price (she just started doing weddings this past summer) and I also thought the pictures I'd seen were quite nice. I was wrong...she wasn't "quite nice" she's INCREDIBLE!!! Mindy Leigh Photography (and Mindy herself) has impressed me SO much! The preview of our engagement pictures was fabulous and I can't wait to see the rest! She will be such a huge part of our wedding day, and I can't wait to see what she will do! Check our preview here!
